Hello Friends and Family,

Please join us in celebrating the life of Shelley Long, who left us well before her time on July 4th, 2021. Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit and energy live on in all of us, in all of you, and in our home that she filled with so much love, joy and enough cookies to feed a small village.

As many of you remember— or maybe some of you don’t ;) — we hosted annual Fall Fiestas celebrating good friends, neighbors, and hopefully great weather with food, spirits, and fabulous conversation. Our last one was in 2011, and we are bringing it back in Shelley’s honor!

We chose not to do a traditional funeral, because Shelley was so full of life, love and positivity, especially during her fight with ovarian cancer, so it just didn’t feel like the right way to bring everyone together to grieve and remember her vivacious spirit. So a fiesta it is, and we hope you can all join us this fall.

We plan to grill fajitas with all of the fixin's, one of Shelley’s favorite dishes, and will have some snacks and beverages as well. We would love to create all of the phenomenal food ourselves, but time does not allow... so we would really appreciate it if you could bring a dish and/or drink to share.

We will have the fire pit and a dance floor as usual, and plan to share some of her incredible art with you all. Also, at some point in the evening we will gather everyone together and open the floor up to anyone who wants to say a few words, share some memories or something you loved about Shelley. She wanted to be cremated, so we will have a Shelley “altar” with the urn we have designed for her. Completely optional, but we would love for you all to bring a small token that reminds you of Shelley to add to the altar for the evening, and of course you may take this back with you when you leave for the evening if you wish.

• A dish or beverage, potluck style
• Some words or memories of Shelley to share
• Something to add to the altar if you’d like
• BYOC: Folding/camp chair

Extra Credit:

We’d also love to display a slideshow of photos at the party, but we only have so many on hand. We’d love for you all to dig up some of your favorites from previous fall parties, soccer tournaments, vacations, Lost Boys Tour nights etc. Here’s a Dropbox link where you can upload them, and we will show them all during the party!

While we wish we were gathering under different circumstances, we’re excited to get together with you all and celebrate Shelley, a deeply cherished mother, wife, and sister, a fiercely loyal friend, and a visionary artist who’s creativity and love knew no bounds.
